chill out

Hello friends!  By some miracle I seem to be on a regular Tues/Thurs schedule here on the blog.  We'll see how long that lasts!  This is a card I made for the Paper Issues Sketchy Saturday Challenge.  And once again, I used the Summer Vibes collection from Simple Stories.  I need to splash out and play with some other goodies, but the colors and do-dads are perfect.  This is definitely in my top 10 favorite collections ever in the history of the universe!

We're slowly winding down our summer.  Andrew & Alex start school on Monday - 11th and 10th grades.  Eeek!  Ever since the kids were tiny tots, I've taken off from work on the first day of school.  I like hearing about their day as soon as they get home.  Although at this age, I get very abridged versions.  Very.  It's also a day where I get to hang out and do what I want to do.  That usually involves crafting of some sort, reading, seeing a movie ... I pick something just for me.  Not a bad tradition!

Hope you have a good weekend!

#30 Lists - Blog Hop

Blog hop time friends!   We're getting ready to roll for September (already!?) and are working with the prompts from March 2011.  I looked back through my old list books and it looks like the first time I participated in this extravaganza was September 2012.  So, I picked a prompt that is basically one I do every single day of my life!  TO DO LISTS!  My usual daily lists aren't so cute.  For this one, I used some goodies from a Paper Issues Swag Bag

I literally pulled together the list above in about 10 minutes.  That's what I love about this project - you can spend as little or as much time as you have each day.  This is a project that you can definitely finish.  And I don't know about you, but I have my share of unfinished projects at the craft table!

Check out the other hoppers to see what they came up with.  You will have some really good ideas to get started on September 1st.

stars

I hadn't made cards for so long and now I'm on a roll.  Participating in challenges like the ones Paper Issues is hosting this month sure helps with that problem!  I made this card using Snarky Stamps.  They are fun sentiments when you need something more than a G rating.  The background paper is from a Bella Boulevard collection.  Love the fun bright colors!  I think this card will be going to a young lady who may need a reminder.

Hippie Bus

Hey friends!  I made this card for Dalton's 22nd birthday.  He loves hippie buses, and decided the Summer Vibes collection from Simple Stories was a must have when I saw all the pocket cards and bits that had the buses on them.

I also entered the card in a card sketch challenge that Paper Issues hosted.  They're having all kinds of fun challenges in August.  Check them out!  Below is the sketch I followed.

I enjoy using sketches because sometimes you just run out of ideas!

Have a good week!

#30Lists

Who doesn't love a good list?  Writing out lists makes me happy - it frees up my brain to think about more important things than what needs to be picked up at Target.  Add a little craftiness in there and you have #30lists.

I've participated in this project several times, and it's really fun!  You can make your lists as simple or as fancy as you want.  Sometimes I use mini books (like the one above that I purchased from Monika Wright at I Love It All) and sometimes I put the list of the day in my notes section of my phone and share the screen shot on instagram / dmg314.

For this round I'm excited to be a sponsor for #30lists!  Click here to sign up for the newsletter to receive more information.  Registration opens on Thursday, August 13th, so be sure stop back to register for some fun with a great community!  [affiliate]

I'm looking forward to see what you list!  I'll be posting some of my lists here, and at dmg314 on instagram.

If you have any questions, let me know in the comments.  Are you listing in September?

Hello Deer

I love foresty creatures and these little bears and the deer from Bella Boulevard are the cutest!  The compass is a chipboard sticker, and the deer is cut out from a daily details sheet.  I found some yarn that matched the paper and made a bow to wrap it up.  I rarely make bows, because they never turn out right for me, but I must say I'm pretty impressed with myself on this one.

This collection makes me think of camping (no kidding, right?!).  We've gone tent camping a couple times at the beach and both trips were disasters.  We can laugh now, but at the time not so much.  Let's just say that both trips involved breaking down camp in scary thunderstorms!   We want to try the woods this time later in the fall.  What are must haves for your camping trips?

Hooked on You

Hey friends!  Today I'm playing along with the latest Paper Issues link party - chip off the old block.  Bill and I went on an adventure to the Poconos a couple weekends ago and did some fishing and toured several state parks and lakes.  If you ever have the chance to see Raymondskill Falls, GO!  It was super cool!  The hike was scary for me (I'm several levels BELOW beginner), but seeing the falls was well worth it.   You can see some of the pictures I took posted on instagram (dmg314).

Since I have fishing on the brain, I thought this Campout collection from Bella Boulevard was perfect to make a card for the chipboard challenge.  Is that blue fish the cutest or what?!

Hope you're having a relaxing summer!  What have you been doing?

Freaking Amazing

Hello friends!  It's Thursday night and I have a 3 day weekend ahead of me!  Hooray for Independence Day!  Thought I'd share a card I made for the latest Paper Issues link party - Seas the Day.  Nothing says summer or vacation like a nice cold glass of lemonade right?  I made this card using American Crafts paper, Simple Stories Summer Vibes Bits & Pieces and Paper Issues Freaking Sentiments stamp set - this is the PG version.  Such a sassy stamp set - I love it!

I hope you enjoy your holiday - be safe!

Hooray for the Red, White and Blue

Hello!  Remember me?!  How on earth has so much time gone by?  This is the first card I've made in MONTHS.  I haven't been doing much crafting at all.  That needs to change!  I had a few hours this afternoon with no kids to taxi around, so I decided to play along with Paper Issues Hooray for the Red, White and Blue challenge.  I'm getting in just  under the wire - today is the last day to play along.

Tomorrow is the first day of summer vacation for my two younger sons, and I have to still go to work.  I hardly see how that's fair!  What are you doing for fun this summer?

bonjour!

Good morning!  Today I'm sharing a card I made a week or so ago using Lawn Fawn's Gleeful Garden set.  I think this has got to be one of my most favorite stamp sets in the history of the universe!  The snails are too cute!  The flower, the bird, the mushrooms!  I took French for many years in high school and college, so the bonjour sentiment is fun too!

I think we may have turned the corner on the weather ... it's supposed to be mild all week with no snow in the forecast.  It's supposed to be in the 50s on Wednesday and Thursday.  YES!!

Enjoy your week!

snail mail

Happy Weekend everyone!  I made this card for the It's Hip to be Square Paper Issue.  Aren't these the cutest snails?  I may have mentioned a time (or two) before that I love Lawn Fawn products.  And the matching dies make it super easy to cut out the images quickly.

Today is the last day of February.  Finally! I'm hoping that March brings spring in a hurry!  I am really not enjoying this cold weather.  At all.  We did see a couple of robins this week, so there's hope right?

Enjoy!

happy birthday

A quick post tonight to celebrate Lawnscaping Challenge's 100th challenge!  I am a big fan of Lawn Fawn products.  The cuteness factor, oh my!  This was a really easy card to make.  I stamped the bear image from the Love You S'More set and cut it out with the matching dies.  I attached him with foam so he stands out a bit.  Then I added "Happy Birthday" (also from Lawn Fawn) and added some bling with the sequins.  The end!

It's still cold here.  So very cold.  And I'm so very tired of it.  March is around the corner, and I'm hoping spring isn't far behind.

Stay warm!

happy valentines day

Hey y'all!!  As you read this, I'll be in GA enjoying warmer weather (hopefully!), spending some time with Bill when he's not working, and visiting with my sister!

Here's another card I made with the February Simon Says Stamp Car Kit.  This one is a bit more traditional.  There were a lot of really beautiful papers in this month's kit.  And how cute is the heart made of paper clips?!

Do you send out valentines?

valetines

I think Valentines are so much fun to make!  Every year I make several for family and friends.  This month's Simon Says Stamp Card Kit has some really good rub ons in it.  I had fun playing with them.  And I think the black & white is something different for a valentine.

Bill & I are headed to GA for a long weekend.  He has a work event that's about an hour from my sister, so I'm going to visit her while he works!  Hooray!

Have a good weekend!

hello sunshine

Two posts in one week!?  What!?  That's what happens when I have a couple days off from work!!  This card is made for the Create a Background Lawnscaping Challenge.  It's been cold and dreary around these parts with some snow thrown in for good measure.  I'm ready for some spring!

To make this background, I stamped the sun image with Versamark ink, then embossed with clear embossing powder.  It makes the images shiny and they stand out a bit more than if I would have stopped with the Versamark.

Hope everyone is having a good week and looking forward to a fun weekend!

hello friend

Good morning friends!  Today I have a card that I made for the new issue at Paper IssuesSay It Ain't Snow Cold Outside.  Sometimes it's a nice change to put together a card made of mostly elements and not too much stamping.  The only thing stamped on this card is the "hello friend" sentiment.

Speaking of cold ... we're to have some snow tomorrow.  Only 1-3 inches, but still snow.  I'm ready for spring - we're half way there!
